Two people were shot in the parking lot of P.F. Chang's in Orland Park in what's suspected to be a murder-suicide.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- Two people were shot in the parking lot of the P.F. Chang's location in the 14100 block of South LaGrange Road in Orland Park Sunday night around 5:19 p.m. in what is suspected to be a murder-suicide. The murder victim is a 45-year-old woman and the suicide victim a 59-year-old man, according to police.

The shooting appears to be domestic related and there is no public safety threat to the community, said Deputy Police Chief Joe Mitchell, of the Orland Park Police Department. A weapon was recovered at the scene.

"Obviously everyone involved is distraught," Mitchell said.

Orland Park police had tarps around both bodies before they were taken from the scene by the Cook County Medical Examiner.

From the scene, it appears that the man was outside of a vehicle when he shot the woman who was inside.
Mitchell said the man and woman were not married and did not live in Orland Park.

Several witnesses at the scene told Patch that another man ran up after the shooting, screaming, “my wife, my wife.”

“He was just screaming and police told him to stand back,” Orland Park resident Tammy Villa said, who arrived after the shooting. “It’s gruesome, it’s heartbreaking. This is in our own backyard. It scares the hell out of me.”

Mitchell would not comment about the man who ran up after the shooting, stating the “sensitivity of the situation.”

P.F. Chang's remained open during the investigation, although crime scene tape roped off the parking lot and Sunday evening diners had to park elsewhere.
