Village of Orland Park Special Recreation to Host Indoor Garage Sale

Semi-annual event returns to Orland Park Civic Center Nov. 1.

Get a jump on fall cleaning and make some extra cash at the same time. The Village of Orland Park Recreation Department’s Special Recreation Program will host its autumn garage sale on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 S. Ravinia Ave. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Our indoor garage sale is one of the largest in the region,” said Orland Park Special Recreation Supervisor Kathleen Hellwig. “This is a great annual event because proceeds benefit the village’s Special Recreation Program,” she added.

Banquet sized tables are available for rent for $27.00 per table. Rental reservations should be made early, as space is limited and fills up quickly. Reservations can be made at the Recreation Administration Building, 14600 South Ravinia Avenue or at the village’s Sportsplex, 11351 West 159th Street.

Tables are pre-assigned on a first come/first served basis and sellers keep their own profits. The sale is limited to 89 vendors and hundreds of shoppers attend the sale each year.

“Sellers offer a number of different things at the Special Recreation Garage Sale like housewares, clothes, books, collectibles, holiday decorations and more. This is a nice indoor event that people look forward to. They can see what several people are selling all under one roof, enjoy concessions and find some great buys,” Hellwig said. “Our sellers like it too because they keep all of their profits.”

Set up the day of the sale begins at 7:00 a.m., with the doors opening at 9:00 a.m. Interested sellers can contact Barb Rhodes at 708/ 403-6202 with questions.
