Village Launches 'OP Alert' Emergency Notification System For Orland Residents
Alerts include emergency incidents, severe weather, traffic and road closures, and other public safety advisories.
ORLAND PARK, IL — The Village of Orland Park is launching “OP Alert,” a new, free Emergency Notification System designed to keep residents informed during emergencies and public safety incidents, officials said Tuesday.
Residents are encouraged to sign up beginning May 26, to receive alerts through phone calls, text messages and email notifications. Notifications may include emergency incidents, severe weather, traffic and road closures and other public safety advisories.
Powered by Everbridge, OP Alert is being provided to the Village of Orland Park at no cost through the Cook County Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security. By transitioning from the Village’s previous Emergency Notification system, Orland Park will save approximately $24,000 annually.

“Keeping our residents informed, especially in emergency situations, is a top priority,” said Mayor Jim Dodge. “With OP Alert and our partnership with Cook County, we are expanding the ways residents can stay connected to important public safety information while also reducing costs.”
A test notification will be sent via email and text message on Thursday, May 28, at 10 a.m., inviting residents to sign up, create their Everbridge account or opt out if they were previously enrolled in the Village’s former emergency notification system. Test notifications will not be sent by phone call.

Residents who receive a test notification are encouraged to create a new Everbridge account to update their contact information and notification preferences. Residents who do not receive a test notification should sign up to ensure they are enrolled in the new system.
During certain alerts, residents may be asked to confirm receipt of the message by pressing “1” during a phone call or replying to a text message. This helps verify delivery and may prevent duplicate notifications through additional methods, such as push notifications.
The Everbridge mobile app is also available for Apple and Android devices, allowing users to receive push notifications directly on their phones. Residents can search for “Orland Park” within the app to enroll or enable location services to receive alerts specific to their area.
As part of the agreement with Cook County, Orland Park will receive both a public-facing Emergency Notification System for residents and an internal notification platform for Village employees.
The alert notification system is managed by the Orland Park Emergency Management Agency. For more information visit orlandpark.org/OPAlert or email EMA@orlandpark.org.
