Warrant Issued for Lego Thief: Court

Orland Park police said Chicago woman is wanted for making fraudulent returns at Toys R Us stores around the region.

ORAND PARK, IL -- Orland Park police were in court Wednesday seeking an arrest warrant for a Chicago woman accused of retail theft. Monica Walter, 33, is accused of stealing Lego kits from Toys R Us. She has warrants for similar crimes out of Aurora and Downers Grove, the detective said.

According to the charges, Walter and an unknown male acquaintance were spotted on Aug. 18 taking Lego kits off the shelves at the Toys R Us location at 45 Orland Square Drive. After waiting a few minutes, the detective said the man tried to return the merchandise in exchange for cash. When the return was denied, Walter allegedly pushed the cart with 22 Lego kits valued at $1,700 out of the store.

A sales associate at the Orland Park location recognized Walter from similar attempts to make fraudulent returns at other Toys R Us stores around the region, the detectives said. The judge issued a $100,000 warrant for Walter’s arrest.
