Shoplifter Mows Down Mall Employee Who Caught Her in the Act: Police
The employee witnessed the woman stealing from his store—and tried to stop her.

A woman faces felony charges after she allegedly intentionally hit an Orland Square Mall employee with her car after being caught stealing clothes, police said.
The employee was attempting to read the license plate to police when Kyra Sledge, 24, of the 15100 block of State Street in South Holland, hit him. She is charged with felony aggravated battery, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident with injury, retail theft and no insurance after striking the man Sept. 14.
The victm had reportedly spotted Sledge removing the security sensor from a pair of jeans at Buckle, and then leaving the store without paying for them. He followed her to the parking lot, where he confronted her. She threw the jeans at him and tried to drive away. He attempted to stop her, and she hit him with the car, sending him across the hood and to the ground, Chicago Tribune reports.

Police found and arrested Sledge in the 15100 block of 94th Avenue. The victim was taken to Palos Community Hospital, after reporting injuries to his back and legs.
