44 Tickets Issued During Oswego Police 4th Of July Enforcement

One person was also apprehended on a warrant during the three-week enforcement campaign that lasted from June 16 to July 5.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police issued a total of 44 citations during its Independence Day enforcement campaigns, officials announced July 20.

The campaign began June 16 and lasted through the early morning hours of July 5, encompassing Juneteenth and Father's Day weekend as well. More than 200 state and local law enforcement agencies around Illinois participated in the campaign, funded by a federal traffic safety grant.

  • 27 driver seat belt violations
  • 10 passenger seat belt violations
  • 3 child seat belt violations
  • 4 cell phone violations

One person was also apprehended on a warrant during the three-week period.

Efforts to target drunk and drugged drivers, encourage seat belt use, and enforce speeding and other traffic laws included high-visibility enforcement combined with outreach activities.
