4th Of July Enforcement Planned For 3 Weeks In Oswego: PD
The upcoming enforcement campaign will encompass the Juneteenth, Father's Day and Fourth of July holidays.
OSWEGO, IL — A three-week-long enforcement campaign is planned for the Fourth of July in Oswego, police announced.
The campaign beginning June 16 and lasting through the early morning hours of July 5, will encompass Juneteenth and Father's Day weekend as well.
In that time frame, Oswego police are teaming up with more than 200 local agencies to work "around the clock" to ensure people are driving sober and properly using seat belts.

"It's simple — if you're driving, don't drink, use marijuana or other drugs," officials said in a news release.

- Designate a sober driver and give them your keys before you go out
- Don't let friends or family members drive under the influence
- If you are drunk or impaired by marijuana or other drugs, call a taxi, take mass transit, use your favorite ride-sharing app, or call a sober friend or family member to give you a ride
- Promptly report drunk drivers to law enforcement by pulling over and dialing 911
- Make sure everyone in your car wears a seat belt
The "Click It or Ticket," "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Drive High, Get a DUI" programs are paid for by highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
