Besides the Aurora boy, six other people were in the cars that were involved in the crash, officials said. A 67-year-old Oswego woman, who was driving one car, was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center.

The driver of the third involved car, a 42-year-old man from Oswego, was uninjured, but the other four passengers — a woman, 40; two girls, 13 and 17; and a boy, 15 — were also hospitalized.

At the time of the crash, the 42-year-old man and 17-year-old boy were both driving south on Douglas Road, while the 67-year-old woman was headed north on Douglas, the police report shows.

Based on statements from the drivers and physical evidence, detectives determined the first car, driven by the 17-year-old, attempted to get in the right lane when the car's front right tire popped, causing the car to crash into the rear passenger bumper of the car driven by the 42-year-old man.

The second car spun into northbound lanes when a third car, driven by the 67-year-old woman, hit the passenger side door, according to the police report.
