OSWEGO, IL — A popular burger restaurant in Oswego has closed its doors, but vowed, "our journey doesn’t have to end here" thanks to a GoFundMe campaign.
On Thursday, Asadora’s Gourmet Burgers, previously known as Asadora’s Argentinas Burgers, announced it was closed after seven "unforgettable" years at 4542 IL-71.
"This journey has been full of flavor, creativity, long nights, laughter, challenges, and so many moments that we will carry forever," the eatery said in the announcement. "... To every customer who supported us, every friend who cheered us on, and every person who believed in our little restaurant: thank you. You helped build something special."
The restaurant added, "This is not goodbye to the passion — just a new beginning in a different direction maybe catering empanadas, pupusas grill at your parties or events, we can stay in touch with our 331-999-3193 number and our Facebook page."
On Saturday, the restaurant said loyal customers had launched a GoFundMe campaign hoping to keep Asadoras alive in some form.
"Our journey doesn’t have to end here," Asadoras said. "It would be our greatest honor to continue serving you through fun events, birthdays, and corporate outings. That has always been our dream… and still is our vision. Thank you for believing in us and helping us hold onto something so special. If you would please consider."
As of Tuesday, $400 had been raised towards a $16,000 goal.
On Monday, Asadoras announced it was selling tables, chairs and equipment, including a large drink cooler, and urged anyone interested to message their Facebook page for information.
