OSWEGO, IL — The woman behind the wheel of the car that caused a chain-reaction crash Tuesday night on Route 34 and Kendall Point Drive was driving under the influence, Oswego police said.
A Toyota, driven by a 65-year-old Aurora man, was in the midst of pulling over for an emergency vehicle when he was rear-ended by a Kia, driven by a 31-year-old Shorewood woman, spokesperson Cathy Nevara told Patch.
The impact caused the Toyota to slam into a Hyundai, driven by a 47-year-old Aurora woman who was also beginning to pull over for the first responders, officials said. All three cars were on eastbound Route 34 when the crash occurred around 8:53 p.m.
The driver of the Kia was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. She was booked at the Oswego Police Department and released with a notice to appear in court.
