She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Scheihing; her parents, Stanley and Frances Szczelina; and her sister, Alicia Moninger

Dorothy worked for approximately 15 years at Bloom Trail High School, running the Computer Technology room where she enjoyed assisting young people as they explored the rapidly evolving world of technology. Her patience, encouragement, and dedication helped many students develop skills in this exciting and emerging field.

After retiring, she devoted herself to caring for her beloved grandchildren. She treasured her role as their caregiver and remained a constant presence in their lives, faithfully attending school activities, sporting events, performances, and celebrations long after babysitting was no longer needed.

She especially cherished her time at Woodhaven Lakes, where she created countless memories with her husband, children, and later her grandchildren. Her camper was a peaceful sanctuary—a place where she found comfort and joy, whether enjoying quiet moments alone or welcoming family and friends to gather and make lasting memories together.

A devoted member of the Catholic faith, she generously volunteered her time teaching children's literacy and sharing her love of learning with others. She also enjoyed the companionship of friends through her involvement with the Red Hat Society and the 59ers.

She was an animal lover throughout her life, caring for dogs, cats, and birds with great affection. Curious by nature and a lifelong learner, she embraced opportunities to expand her knowledge through classes and programs on a wide variety of subjects, including coffee, sea life, cocoa, and many other interests. Her enthusiasm for learning, love of family, and warm spirit touched all who knew her and will be remembered fondly by those she leaves behind.
