OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police released Monday the results of their Memorial Day enforcement campaign, revealing the campaign yielded a total of 87 tickets.
The Oswego Police Department partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation and other local law enforcement agencies for the campaign that lasted May 16-25.
The "Click It or Ticket" campaign, paid for using federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, focused on seat belt use, speeding and impaired driving.
These were the results of the enforcement period:
Police said the campaign was a success, citing law enforcement's commitment to roadway safety.
"Thanks to the efforts of our officers, more drivers and passengers were reminded to buckle up, helping to prevent injuries and save lives," spokesperson Cathy Nevara said in a statement. "Every citation and safety check reinforces the message that seat belts work."
