OSWEGO, IL — An Aurora man was sentenced to 10 years for stalking a group of women and attempting to sexually assault one woman after entering a home where they were staying uninvited, the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office announced Thursday.

Eduardo Hernandez-Maravillo, 36, pleaded guilty last week to residential burglary and attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault in connection with an incident in June 2025.

Kendall County State's Attorney Eric Weis, who prosecuted the case along with Assistant State's Attorney Natallie Miller, said Hernandez-Maravillo "selected a group of much younger women to approach at a local restaurant/bar." He lingered around them while they waited for their booked car ride to go home.

Unbeknownst to the women, he followed them to a residence in unincorporated Kendall County, where he entered the home uninvited and made repeated attempts to sexually assault one of the women before fleeing, officials said.

Oswego police's canvass of the area yielded several home security videos that showed Hernandez-Maravillo loitering in the neighborhood for more than two hours before he entered the residence and later ran from the property. DNA evidence also linked him to the crime scene.

Investigators identified, arrested and charged Hernandez-Maravillo shortly after the incident. He has remained in custody since.

Hernandez-Maravillo, of the 1900 block of Heather Drive, is required to serve at least 50 percent of his 10-year sentence before he is eligible for mandatory supervised release. He is also required to register as a sexual offender.
