Oswego Man, 54, Learns Prison Sentence For Child Pornography Dissemination

OSWEGO, IL — An Oswego man learned his prison sentence Thursday for a child pornography conviction, the Kane County State's Attorney's Office said.

James R. Clark, 54, agreed to a 10-year sentence of imprisonment at the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to dissemination of child sexual abuse material. Judge Julia Yetter accepted the plea.

Investigators with the state's attorney's office's Child Exploitation Unit found child sexual abuse material on a laptop of Clark's while executing a search warrant Feb. 1, 2024, at the Batavia business where he worked, prosecutors said.

Detectives determined Clark shared the child pornography online.

In addition to the prison term, Clark, of the 200 block of Foster Drive in Oswego, must register for life as a sexual offender.

Clark is eligible for day-for-day sentencing and receives credit for the one day served in the Kane County jail.

"Possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is not a victimless crime," Assistant State's Attorney Matthew Rodgers said in a statement. "Every time this material is viewed or shared, an innocent child is victimized again. This case reflects the Kane County State's Attorney's Office's commitment to identifying, arresting, and prosecuting CSAM offenders to the fullest extent of the law."
