OSWEGO, IL — Freddie's Off The Chain may have closed its doors in July, but its beloved tacos are making a comeback this weekend thanks to the owners' children's new venture: a food truck.
Adriana Herrada, her brother, Armando, and their partner, John Fitzgerald, are opening Freddie's Taco Crave Friday afternoon. The food truck will be parked in front of the former restaurant, 11 S. Madison St. in downtown Oswego.
"Our parents are almost 70 and after so many years of running the family business, they made the difficult decision to close the restaurant," Herrada wrote in an announcement on Facebook. "We just couldn't let Freddie's name and legacy end there. To honor our late brother Freddie and keep his name alive, we're taking a leap of faith and starting this new chapter."
The food truck will open at 4 p.m. Friday, noon Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday. It'll stay open until food sells out, owners said.
"As we are just getting started, this location is our temporary home base while we look for more permanent options," Herrada told Patch in an email. "We will definitely keep everyone updated as our hours and location plans expand in the future."

"We're so excited to bring the flavor back to Oswego and we hope you'll come out, support our family, grab some food, and be part of this new journey with us," the team wrote on Facebook.
