The Little White School Museum will also host a history tour of the cemetery as an introduction ahead of the popular cemetery walk.

OSWEGO, IL — Spooky season is almost here, which means the Oswego Township Cemetery will be busier than usual.

The Little White School Museum is planning two events that will share the history of the village's quiet, well-kept and historic cemetery, serving as the forever home of some of the people who built the Oswego community.

On Sept. 25, the museum will hold an "Oswego History Tour" of the cemetery, 503 S. Main St. Locals will gather at noon for a stroll through the cemetery. The hour-long event will serve as "the perfect introduction ... for those planing to attend this year's Oswego Cemetery Walk."

The popular cemetery walk will take place the following weekend, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 1. Groups of visitors will be guided through the cemetery, where they will hear brief presentations by the "ghosts" of residents and pioneers who are buried there. The museum works with the Limelight Theatre Company for the event.

The tour will be on a paved path, but the landscape is not flat and could be difficult for some to manage, organizers said. Participants are encouraged to bring flashlights.

Pre-registration for the cemetery walk is required and costs $7 for Oswegoland Park District residents and $10 for non-residents. Everyone registered will receive a time slot, and small groups will leave every 15 minutes for their tours, which last about 45 minutes.

Registration, for $5, is encouraged for the history tour. Admission to both events, planned in conjunction with the Oswegoland Heritage Association and the park district, can be completed by calling the park district, 630-554-1010.
