Labor Day Campaign Results In 87 Citations: Oswego Police

OSWEGO, IL — Labor Day has come and gone, and Oswego police issued a total of 87 citations during their enforcement campaign encompassing the holiday that marks the unofficial end of summer.

The Oswego Police Department collaborated with other law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners across the state for the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Drive High, Get a DUI" campaign, which lasted from Aug. 14 and Sept. 8.

Over the course of the three weeks, officers wrote citations for these violations:

• 67 seatbelt
• 11 distracted driving
• 8 speeding
• 1 other

Police also made nine arrests.

"Through the Labor Day safety campaign, we helped to make our roads safer and spread the word about the risks of unsafe driving," Oswego police spokesperson Cathy Nevara said in a statement.
