OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police spent September focusing on the most common factors that contribute to crashes and injuries, writing a total of 161 citations and making four arrests, officials announced Friday evening.
The Oswego Police Department conducted a nearly month-long enforcement campaign, from Sept. 9-30. This was the result:
The September effort was the final component of the Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program Grant, a high-visibility enforcement initiative funded by federal highway safety dollars and administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The 2025-2026 STEP grant year ran from Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2026.
"Oswego Police remind drivers that simple choices like buckling up, putting the phone down, and following posted speed limits, can make a significant difference in keeping everyone on the road safe," officials wrote in a news release.
