Voters took to the polls Tuesday to choose between Republican Bobby Richardson and Democrat Jose Villagrana as the next sheriff in Kendall County.
The polls closed at 7 p.m.
Take a look at unofficial tallies from the Kendall County Clerk's Office:
Dwight Baird, who was first elected to the role in 2014, did not seek reelection and instead endorsed Richardson, his longtime undersheriff.
Richardson, whose law enforcement career began in 2007 as a patrol deputy, has served as undersheriff to Baird since November 2019. He worked in patrol, investigations, community policing, corrections, undercover operations, supervision and command throughout his career.
Villagrana, a deputy who retired from the Kendall County Sheriff's Office after a 25-year law enforcement career, ran on a platform rooted in affordability and accountability.
Both candidates ran unopposed in the March primaries.
Election results are unofficial until certified by election authorities. This story will be updated as additional vote totals become available.
