The OFPD scholarships are given in honor of a member of our Fire Protection District that has shown exemplary service to the people of the communities we serve. This year, Retired Chief Rick Neitzer is being honored. He dedicated his life to serving the people of our District in a variety of capacities. He started his career in 1979 and served as a firefighter for over 35 years. In 1987, Chief Neitzer came to the OFPD as one of the original 6 full-time firefighter/paramedics. He moved through the ranks and became the Fire Chief in 2011.

Chief Neitzer exemplified what it means to be a firefighter and serve the public. He truly dedicated his life to his community and the Fire District. The OFPD would like to honor Retired Chief Rick Neitzer by awarding two $500 scholarships in his name to two 2016 graduates that will be pursuing a higher education in the fall of 2016.
