Attorney General Says Oswego Township Open Meetings Act Violations Merit Further Action
Oswego Township has seven days to explain the violations.

OSWEGO, IL — The Illinois Attorney General is getting involved in local activist Leah Philpot’s fight for transparency on the Oswego Township Board.
According to WSPY News, a letter from Illinois Assistant Attorney General Matt Hartman said further action is warranted over alleged violations of the Illinois Open Meetings Act. Those violations include “not posting information to the Oswego Township website, including meeting minutes, agendas, and schedules, financial statements, and employee compensation packages for employees earning over $75,000,” according to WSPY.
Philpot told the station she’s glad they agree with her that the law is being violated.
