Boulder Hill Family Finds Swastikas Outside Home; Husband Called Racial Slur
The homeowners believe it is due to Donald Trump winning the election.
BOULDER HILL, IL — Amanda and Joshua S. have always had problems with their neighbors, but this weekend it went too far.
Amanda, who asked that Patch not use her last name, woke up on Sunday morning, ran some errands and came home to two swastikas on her Springdale driveway.
“There was a pair of them at the bottom of our driveway,” she said. “I started walking around and there was another on the corner of our lot.”

Amanda then began walking around the neighborhood and came across a neighbor in his 20s that she’s pretty sure is involved with it. She asked if he knew why there were swastikas in the driveway.
“He said, ‘No, but they’re down the street, too’ and quickly disappeared into his house," Amanda said.

Amanda called the police and was told that another person had reported a swastika by their house.
But the harassment didn’t stop there. Her biracial husband Joshua was called a "b---h n----r" Monday by a Hispanic kid surrounded by three black men, Amanda said.
“It’s complete and utter insanity,” she said.
Since Trump won the election, racial incidents have been reported all across the country, and Amanda thinks this is just the latest one.
“(The neighbors) have been nasty before, but it’s never been racial, so I absolutely attribute it to that,” she said.
Now Amanda has been left on edge. Every time she hears a noise she thinks someone is breaking into her house. Joshua is also disturbed.
“We didn’t feel safe next to these kids before, but certainly now that they’ve gone in that direction. I’m afraid they’re going to hurt my dogs,” she said.
Amanda said it appears the police aren’t going to be able to do much about the incidents.
Kendall County Deputy Michael Mrozek said he wasn't able to speculate on who was to blame, and since the swastikas were written in chalk and washed off, there was no criminal damage.
"We spoke to the neighbors in the area and no one had seen anything," Mrozek said.
In the meantime, Amanda’s just trying to put it out of her head.
“I”m trying really hard to laugh about it so I don’t cry,” she said.
