My name is Scott Finkenbinder and I am running for Village of Oswego Trustee. I am a New York State Certified Public Accountant with 10 years of experience in both public and private sectors. My wife and I, along with our two sons, moved to Oswego in September 2010. Before this, I was Controller for a Residential Property Management Company owning 38 properties in 11 states, with annual revenue exceeding $60 million. I was involved in all aspects of the operation, including cash management, annual audit/tax preparation, budgeting, process efficiency/documentation, acquisitions/dispositions, technology upgrades, and investor reporting. In Oswego, I’ve been able to dedicate time to our great community. I am a substitute teacher’s aide and weekly volunteer at Old Post Elementary and physical education instructor at the YMCA. In addition, I’ve coached sports through the Oswegoland Park District and YMCA and I served on the District 308 Boundary Committee.
I believe my experience, attention to detail, and common sense, pro-business approach to governance would be a valuable addition to the Board. In the coming weeks I will share with you observations and proposed solutions from my review of the 2014 – 2018 Village Financial Forecast, 2012 Audit report and 2012/2013 Budget.
Government cannot be everything to everyone. I believe government needs to be refocused on its true responsibilities: public safety, infrastructure, and taking care of those in need. Feel free to email me your questions at scottfinkenbinder@yahoo.com, or check out my future blogs on the patch.
