EPEC308 Seeks Community Support For Grant Request
Seeds of Change, Share the Good Program is awarding 16 grants ranging from $10-25K. Top 50 vote recipients move on to final round for grant consideration.
Exceptional Parents of Exceptional Children (EPEC308 http://epec308.org/) recently applied for a grant through Seeds of Change, Share the Good Grant program (http://www.sharethegoodgrant.com Zip 60543). Grant awards range from $10-25K. Funding will help build accessible gardens near the community garden space at Brokaw ELC for students age 3-21 who have exceptional needs or are at risk in our district. In addition, we hope to supply students with adaptive tools, create wheelchair accessible paths, and provide supplemental curriculum supports to create educational and vocational opportunities.
EPEC308 envisions an adaptive program built on sustainable, organic gardening. Through partnerships with educators, local volunteers and community organizations we will be able to teach children the art of healthful living, while providing life-long skills that will aide them in their future, and giving back to their community. The success of the program will be showcased to the community as the children will be able to share the fruits of their harvest at our local country markets, and in our schools during snack time. Again, reinforcing the skills they have been taught. At the close of each harvest, we will work with students to build our seed collections, and understand how sustainable gardens contribute to a life-long harvest and grow to support a community’s needs.
One component of the grant is our ability to show community support. Seeds of Change has established a voting application through “Share the Good“. The top 50 vote recipients move on to the final round of judging. By accessing the link below and entering our Zip Code (60543), you will see our brief introduction and be able to cast your vote.
