'Bullet' Report At Oswego School Prompts Police Response

A "hold in place" was implemented after an item thought to be a bullet was found at Thompson Jr. High Wednesday morning.

OSWEGO, IL — Thompson Junior High School, 440 Boulder Hill Pass, was put in a "hold in place" Wednesday morning after police received a report that a bullet was found in the school, Oswego police said. During an investigation, police determined the item thought to be a bullet was actually a Hilti cartridge, used in construction for driving pins and studs into steel and concrete.

Police were called to the school at around 9:30 a.m.

"There is no threat to the Thompson Junior High School, students or the public at this time," police said in a press release. "The investigation is continuing and we are being assisted by the school district in how the item was brought into the school."
