'Care'-avan Returns as Illinois Stay-At-Home Order Gets Extended
Procession of vehicles will head south in support of the community and its essential workers.

OSWEGO, IL — The Village of Oswego’s 'care'-avan is set to roll out once again Friday, May 1, with the extension of the statewide stay-at-home order in an effort to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
The caravan will head south to Lakeview Estates, Arbor Gate, Deerpath Creek, Deerpath Trails, Morgan Crossing, and Ashcroft to connect with Oswego residents and show support for the community and its essential workers.
Vehicles from the Village of Oswego’s Police and Public Works departments, as well as from the Oswego 308 School District and Oswego Fire Protection District will be included.

The route will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Prairie Point Elementary School on Lakeview Drive, turn left onto Prairieview Drive, right onto Northgate Drive, right onto Persimmon Lane, left onto Paradise Parkway, left onto Carnation Drive, right onto Prairieview Drive, left onto Morgan Valley Drive, left onto Mustang Drive, right onto Andover Drive, left onto Spencer Lane, right onto Deerfield Drive, left onto Amherst Circle, left onto Ashcroft Lane, and left onto Arboretum Way, ending at Grove Road.
According to a press release from the Village of Oswego, residents are advised to watch from their own front porches and yards, stand at least six feet apart from others, and avoid gathering together in groups to watch the caravan.

Additional caravan routes in the future may be added depending on developments with the coronavirus pandemic and resulting stay-at-home orders, and so long as they can be conducted safely without crowding, which can jeopardize public health.
Residents can take additional steps to protect themselves, their neighbors, and the essential workers by wearing face masks and continuing to regularly wash their hands and routinely disinfect surfaces, the press release added.
