Cashiers at Oswego Businesses Cited for Selling Tobacco to Minors
Six businesses were checked in total and only three passed the test.

Cashiers at two Oswego businesses and one in Minooka were cited when they allegedly sold tobacco to a minor.
The final of three rounds of compliance checks at businesses within unincorporated Kendall County were conducted May 25, according to the sheriff's office. A total of six tobacco retailers were inspected and the results were split down the middle.

Violations occurred at the Oswego Food and Liquor located in the 100 block of Light Road in Oswego, Gas Mart USA located in the 2500 block of Light Road in Oswego and Citgo located in the 17000 block of Ridge Road in Minooka, police said.
At all three locations, the cashier who sold the tobacco was cited for unlawful sale of tobacco to a minor, a petty offense.

The compliance checks are performed to determine if local tobacco retailers are complying with state minimum age tobacco laws which prohibit the sale of tobacco to persons under the age of 18.
