Child Abduction Report Was Fabricated: Oswego Police

A 10-year-old girl's abduction claim drew response from K-9 units from several area police departments.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police say a report of an attempted child abduction is unfounded. Police said at around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, a local father called police to report that he'd returned home to find that his 10-year-old daughter was not there, and was missing. During the call, the dad was able to locate his daughter, who told him she had been abducted from their home — a claim police said was later determined to have been fabricated.

Several police units and K-9s were dispatched to the Blackberry Knolls subdivision to investigate until around 9 a.m. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)
