Coroner Reportedly Gave Cook County Official's Wife Badge in Exchange for Future Favors

"This office is usually press one for coroner, press two if you need a favor," Toftoy said in the recording.

Kendall County Coroner Ken Toftoy reportedly gave the wife of a Cook County official a coroner’s badge in exchange for favors at a later date.

According to a report from WSPY News, Toftoy can be heard in audio recordings “explaining to a Kendall County male deputy coroner how he gave the coroner’s badge to the wife of the Cook County official in hopes of obtaining favors from (the) official.”

The official reportedly told Toftoy that his wife wants to run for coroner when they move to Colorado but needed experience to take an exam to become qualified for the position, according to WSPY and the audio recordings.

Toftoy said sometime in the future he might call the official up to get a return favor.

“Some day I might have to call (name removed) and go, ‘Hey bud, remember when… Now it’s time for you to have to pay me back because I helped your wife.’”
