OSWEGO, IL — Oswego trustees plan to consider the proposal for the 24,000-seat professional cricket stadium during its Nov. 7 meeting, village officials said Tuesday evening.

The Village Board meeting agenda has not yet been posted but will be on Oswego's website Friday, officials said.

Breybourne Stadium is proposed to be built on 33.48 acres of land in a largely residential area near the Blackberry Knoll subdivision just west of the Fox River. Plans include an associated clubhouse and restaurant, a hotel and various restaurant outlots, Patch reported.

During its Sept. 7 meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the stadium. The approval included a final Planned Unit Development for phase one, covering the cricket field of play and underground utilities, and a preliminary PUD for the remaining phases, including the hotel, stadium and restaurant.

The commission's approval was subject to several conditions, including requiring each phase to return before commissioners for review and the Village Board for approval.

Additional traffic and parking studies as well as sound analysis may be required prior to the approval of any future phases. At their September meeting, commissioners also recommended the petitioner, Chakra360, LLC, install a fence or sound wall along the west property line and consider relocating the stadium from the northwest corner to the east or northeast part site near Orchard Road and Tuscany Trail.

Later in September, the Kendall County Board approved the construction of a full-access intersection into the property of the proposed stadium, or any other development that may go there. The intersection will be installed about halfway up Orchard Road between Tuscany Trail and Galena Road.

If the cricket stadium proposal fails in Oswego, the village would still want to have the full-access intersection "as an incentive for economic development in that corridor," according to County Engineer Fran Klaas.
