Dates Set For Summer 2022 Oswego Junior Public Safety Academy

Participating junior high-age students will learn forcible entry techniques and hose line and nozzle management skills, among other things.

OSWEGO, IL — With summer months quickly approaching, so is the Oswego Junior Public Safety Academy. Dates for summer sessions have been announced, and the free program will take place from June 6-10 and again from July 18-22.

From 8 a.m. to noon each day of the program, which is split between the Oswego police and fire departments, junior high school-age students who participate will be exposed to several topics pertaining to both police and fire professions.

Some of the topics that will be covered during the week-long event include traffic stops, car accident and crime scene investigation, patrolling the streets, water flow and fire extinguishment, K-9 demonstration, and building searches. Discussions will focus on the "why," rather than the "how," officials said.
