Detached Garage Catches Fire, No Injuries Reported: Oswego FD

Firefighters found a small fire in the attic space of a detached garage on Marnel Road and were able to put it out in less than 15 minutes.

OSWEGO, IL — A detached garage on Marnel Road in Boulder Hill caught fire around 3 p.m. Sunday. No one was injured, and the Oswego Fire Protection District put out the fire in less than 15 minutes, officials said.

Firefighters were dispatched to the building on the 00 block of Marnel Road, found a small fire in the attic space of the detached garage, and were able to contain it to the original space, according to officials.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation as of Tuesday, Oswego fire officials said.

Officials estimated the loss was less than $5,000.

ComEd was contacted to temporarily shut down power to the building during the fire.

The North Aurora and Sugar Grove fire protection districts assisted Oswego Firefighters on the scene. During the fire, the Plainfield Fire Protection District covered Oswego's district.
