Shocked to read NY Times article--Avoid paying high Co-Pays now and risk big increase in premiums in 2016.Co-Pays are double to triple .

I was shocked to read NY Times article--Pl.google--and read it your self.

NY TIMES gave an example:

Say you went to an independent doctor for Sonogram--your charge is 189$-your CO_PAY is 38$.

But if this doctor now works for hospital as an employee-- you will get a bill for 453$--although this doctor is located in old office.

You will be stuck with 90$ CO-PAY--and insurance co. also will be stuck with triple charge(approx.)

So insurance co.can’t raise your premium in 2015--but your deductible will be gone quickly--meaning YOU WILL PAY from DEDUCTIBLE first.

So if you have HIGH Deductible policy--you will pay 453$--the full amount.

So what can you do?

Find an independent doctor or specialist. Ask this doc. to suggest lower costs facilities that is certified- and has good quality doctor/specialist who is Board Certified.

Since Colonoscopy or Endoscopy and similar procedures are very expensive --be willing to travel 20-30 miles as you could save 3000-3900$. American Colonoscopy & Endoscopy Center in Geneva,Il. is certified and their charges are much lower.SO SHOP AROUND--like you do for Cars,Refrigerator ,Travel etc.

SO SAVE NOW. Thousands of $ in premiums/doctor’s visits/procedures.

You may say- I am lucky-I am over 65--on Medicare.

WELL you still are stuck with double-triple CO-PAYS.
