Dirt Bike Rider, 15, Badly Hurt In Crash: Oswego Police

The dirt bike collided with a small SUV on Route 34 late Wednesday, police said.

OSWEGO, IL — A 15-year-old dirt bike rider was badly injured in a crash with a small SUV on Route 34 Wednesday night, Oswego police said.

The dirt bike was on the road with no headlights traveling west on Route 34 near Boulder Hill Pass, while the SUV, driven by a 30-year-old woman, was traveling in the opposite direction, police said. The boy was suffered extensive injuries and was taken to the hospital following the crash.

He was given multiple citations, including driving with no headlamps when required, having no valid driver's license and driving an uninsured motorcycle.

Dirt bikes and ATVs, among other off-road vehicles, are illegal to drive on public roadways. Following an increase in complaints about them in June, specifically in Boulder Hill, the Kendall County Sheriff's Office said they'd start ticketing drivers.
