Does it really matter

Americans have lived under freedom so long that we take it for granted that this freedom will always be ours to enjoy and we can just go on with our lives and not worry too much about what our government does in far off Washington. 
Don't worry, be happy, after all,hasn't government legalized pot, Now, even our young children  may be able to enjoy its pleasures. And haven't we in Amerca now reached a new level of societal sophistication in which even gays, not to be denied the legality of a marriage license, can now marry legally. And the ACLU, in their efforts to improve mankind, are busily working to remove all vestiges of the Christian religion from public view. Public availability of pornographic material however is, by ACLU's logic and standards, permissible because that is considered a matter of peoples rights,"freedom of expression, "free speech."
When America's present government is chipping away at the citizens rights, do we even care enough to protest,does it really matter to us any more since we're now free to do as we will,  "we're now free to do as we will," that is within the restrictions set by the present government.... Does it really matter,we're free after all, isnt it great...
