Expect Increased Patrol In April For Distracted Driving Month: Oswego Police
Oswego police are stepping up their enforcement efforts for the entire month of April.
OSWEGO, IL ā Oswego police will step up their enforcement for the entire month of April in recognition of Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
The department is partnering with Illinois State Police and other local law enforcement agencies to increase patrols throughout April. Drivers should expect officers looking for texting, social media use, video viewing and other distracted driving violations, officials said Tuesday.
In Illinois, manually using a phone while driving is illegal, police said.

"Distracted driving puts everyone at risk, and even a quick glance at a phone can have devastating consequences," said department spokesperson Cathy Nevara. "During April, officers will be looking for distracted driving violations and reminding motorists to put the phone away and focus on the road."
The enforcement campaign is funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
