Fake Name Ends in Real Arrest for Alleged Thief
The 30-year-old man thought he'd trick police when he was caught shoplifting.

A 30-year-old man who was arrested Friday afternoon by Oswego police thought he’d be able to hide behind a fake name, but that didn’t go as planned.
Ryan W. Campbell, of Sheridan, had allegedly shoplifted more than $300 worth of merchandise from the Walmart located in the 2000 block of Rt. 34. Officers were called to the scene at around 3:30 p.m. after Campbell fled on foot from store employees. Officers apprehended the man in the 300 block of Fifth Street.

“Initially he had given police his name, which had ended up being someone else who was wanted on a warrant and then he gave his real name,” said Oswego Police Spokesperson Cathy Nevara.
