Michels filed his petitions by a new Nov. 24 deadline established by a village resolution approved in July. Fellow trustees Gail Johnson and Tony Giles, who are also hoping to run for village president, understood that that deadline was not until Dec. 22.
Meanwhile, Diane Selmer, who hopes to run for trustee, also filed by the Nov. 24 deadline, while the remaining five trustee hopefuls, including West, followed the Dec. 15 to 22 filing period.
