FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Team wins Three Awards at IL State
Robotics team achieves success in its second year at the IL State Championship; looks forward to FIRST World Championship in Houston, TX.
Oswego, IL - A local robotics team, Rounded Cube participated in the FIRST Tech Challenge 2021-22 season. A total of 163 teams across Illinois competed, 36 of which were invited to participate at the IL State competition.
Over a period of nine months, the team of 12 students worked using a hybrid model of remote and in person practices and picked up the 1st place Inspire Award, Top Ranked Robot Award, 2nd place Think award, 2nd place Control Award, and two semi-finalist nominations for the Dean’s List Award for Rajiv Jhangiani and Kyran Siddiqui as well as an invitation to the state level competition, at the League Championships in February 2022. At the IL state level, the team won three additional awards: Judges Choice Award, 3rd place Promote Award and the Dean’s List finalist Award.
Coopertition and Gracious Professionalism are part of the ethos of FIRST, which stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. Gracious Professionalism is a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community. With Gracious Professionalism, fierce competition and mutual gain are not separate notions. Gracious professionals learn and compete like crazy, but treat one another with respect and kindness in the process.

In addition to the team awards, one of the team members, Kyran Siddiqui, received the Dean's List finalist Award and will represent Illinois at the World Championships in Houston, TX.
The 12 student team comprised of Vikrant G. from Glenbard North High School, Kyran S., Marc T., and Prabhav V. from Oswego East High School, Rajiv J. and Krithikk K. from Metea Valley High School, Natalia C. and Analicia C. from Aurora Central Catholic High School, Fiyin A. from Bednarcik Jr. High school, Zoya S. from Plank Jr High School, Aadil B. from John C. Dunham STEM Partnership school and Madison W. from Granger Middle School.
