Dolly - English Shepherd/Springer Spaniel mix. Approximately 2 years old and 48lbs. Said to be wonderful with all humans!
Noura - 7 months old 32 lbs. Lab hound mix. Noura is full of fun and energy. She is very playful...she loves other dogs and loves to be petted. She would be great with children to play with. Check out the little white chin hair!!
"K" Puppies - Litter of Heeler mix puppies about 3 months. 3 males and 3 females. They weigh an average of 25-30 pounds. Adorable SWEET puppies. Happy, healthy, and up to date on shots. These pups can be fostered as a whole litter, or in pairs of 2.
Putter - 2-3 years old, Boarder Collie/Feist Mix Meet Putter!!! Putter is a shelter favorite and they just can't understand why this sweet and happy boy hasn't found himself a family. He would be even happier if he could find a forever home in IL.
Pina Colada and Martini - The "Drink" Puppies - Feist mix, about 10 weeks old - What more can we say, this litter is ADORABLE! Can be fostered in groups of 2 or as an entire litter.
Daisy - English Shepherd/Spaniel Mix about 2 yrs old and 50 lbs. This is such a beautiful girl. She is good with other dogs, people, and children. Sadly, Daisy is Heartworm positive and will have to undergo treatment. Heartworm Disease or HW+ (Heartworm Positive) dogs are one area that Safe Haven Dog Rescue encounters regularly. Heartworm treatment generally costs over $1000 to treat, however SHDR has a phenomenal veterinary partner that allows us to treat these dogs at a reduced cost. These dogs are typically owner surrendered or found as strays once their owners learn they have Heartworm. It’s not surprising, but because the treatment for heartworm is expensive and time-consuming, this usually means a death sentence for the shelter dog. Once we rescue a dog we are committed to providing treatment and getting it healthy so that it can be adopted into a forever home. In order to save her we need a foster home that is willing to foster for at least 10 weeks.
We pay for all vetting, food, toys, leash and collar for the foster dog or puppy. You provide love, socialization, and start the dog or puppy on basic training. An adoption coordinator is always available to discuss any challenges that you are facing. We want a successful experience for you and the dog in your care.
We can only save as many dogs as we have foster homes for. Every week we have to turn away hundreds of requests to accept dogs into our adoption program.
