Gaylord House & Gardens,
Oswego’s newest event venue, is hosting a spring preview open house this
Friday, May 16, from 5:30-7:30 pm.
Opening June 2014, the Victorian farm setting is available for outdoor
weddings, rustic receptions, family celebrations and company events.
The brick Italianate farmhouse wasbuilt in 1865 by Gilbert Gaylord, a prosperous farmer. Owner Candice Hadley and her disabled son Sam Johnson have lived in the home for 20 years. Hadley has partnered with Leigh Anne Scoughton, a life-long area resident, to welcome thepublic to this beautiful setting.
In addition to the striking brick
home, the five-acre property features all the original farm buildings. The corn
crib will later house a gallery and gift shop and be available for event
rental; the horse barn is where the chickens and ducks frolic (and soon
Alpacas). And the original hog yard has been transformed into a lovely patio
with firepit. The property also has many beautiful garden areas and a pergola
created from original porch posts.
Live music will be provided by John Klatt; appetizers will be served by Upper Crust Catering and outdoor furniture is from Grand Rental Station.
