Gear it Forward 2338 earns a spot at the World Championships in St. Louis

Oswego Robotics Team Wins 2017 FIRST Midwest Regional Chairman's award and earns a spot to compete in the St. Louis FIRST Championship.

FIRST Midwest Regional Robotics Competition

Oswego, Ill. (April 5, 2017) — Congratulations to FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition team, Gear it Forward 2338, for earning a spot at the World Championships to be held in St. Louis April 26-29.

This past weekend the team won the Chairman’s Award for the 3rd straight year at the Midwest Regional held at UIC in Chicago. The Chairman’s Award is the most prestigious award at FIRST, as it recognizes the team that best represents a model for other teams to emulate and best embodies the purpose and goals of FIRST. They received the award based on their year round commitment to their community with STEM outreach, charity to help the needy, and starting and sustaining new FIRST teams.

In addition, the team’s robot was a consistent force to be reckoned with during competition and finished as part of the number 5-ranked alliance. Fifty three teams from 8 states and Brazil competed at the Midwest Regional.
