Healthy Habits Workshop at Oswego Senior Center

The workshop begins Oct. 21 and runs through Dec. 16.

Local community groups will host the next 8-week series of the popular “Healthy Habits for Successful Living” workshop through the Oswego Senior Center.

Participants will meet on Wednesday and Friday mornings to focus on healthy lifestyle goals and receive educational materials, exercise practice, food demonstrations and more. The next series begins Oct. 21 and runs through Dec. 16.

“Through educational, interactive sessions and encouragement, we hope to inspire individuals to make healthier choices and achieve their lifestyle goals,” said Laura Barr, University of Illinois Extension Educator, Nutrition and Wellness. “This fun program is designed to provide new skills, introduce a supportive group environment and improve overall quality of life.”

The “Healthy Habits for Successful Living” workshop series is developed and delivered in collaboration with Kendall County Health Department, Meijer, the Northeastern Illinois Area Agency on Aging, Oswego Senior Center, Rush-Copley Medical Center, and the University of Illinois Extension serving DuPage, Kane and Kendall Counties.

“This partnership brings together so many experts and resources in accessible, twice-weekly meetings,” Barr said. “We know this program works and encourage all those interested in developing healthy lifestyle habits to join us.

For more information on the program or to register by Oct. 19, call the Oswego Senior Center at 630-554-5602. Cost for adults under age 60 is $10, and for adults age 60 and older, a $5 donation is suggested.

The group will meet beginning Oct. 21, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Fridays, through Dec. 16.
