“Hoverboards, also known as self-balancing scooters and hands-free segways, will not be permitted on campus or in any School District 308-owned building,” said Oswego School District 308 Spokesman Brian Graves in a release.
There have been documented reports of these devices spontaneously igniting during use or while charging and on Dec. 16, 2015, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that it is investigating 28 fires in 19 states caused by hoverboards, according to the release.
