How Do I Make Real Change In My Life?

It's that time of year again... the time that we assess our life for what it is and see the things that we want to be different.  Unfortunately, this time of year brings a lot of guilt, shame, and frustration because sometimes we are disappointed with where we really are in life.  Many people look at themselves and think they are too "fat", too "unhealthy", too "emotional",  too "disorganized", etc and we lose site of the wonderful person that we really are.

In my opinion, to really make change happen in your life it takes peace to be exactly who you are right now, right here.  There is no such thing as "too" anything... the fact is you have been created to be exactly who you are.  Now true, there might still be areas that you have possibly allowed to creep up and take control of your life but most often those things have been allowed because you weren't living in exactly who you were created to be.

Sometimes we feel like our lives are spinning out of control and we have no idea how to stop it.  Sometimes we know how to stop it but we may not have the "motivation" or "willpower" to do something about it.  If this is you, these problems may be deeper than you are actually capable of changing...you may need help to make changes.  If you are a praying person, now is the most important time to take a few moments to do that and connect.  If you aren't a praying person, maybe take some time to meditate quietly by yourself, or even simply take a small time of total silence with your eyes closed and see what your heart might be trying to speak to you.

The bottom line is, getting in touch with what your heart is telling you is key to creating real change in your life.  Stop listening to what society is telling you, or even what your mind is telling you.  Start paying attention to what your heart, at the core of your being, is saying to you.  Hopefully, if you give it enough patient time, you will hear your heart tell you that you are beautiful, creative, special, and perfectly designed.  There is nothing you should change abut the core of who you are, but you can take control of areas in your life that are unhealthy and destructive.  These are the things to focus on!
