Inaugural Oswego FIRST LEGO League Tournament

Robotic and judging competition to be held at OEHS for students in FIRST LEGO League teams around the west and south suburban area.

Oswego Robotics and Oswego District 308 will be hosting a FIRST LEGO League qualifying tournament on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Oswego East High School. Opening Ceremony begins at 9:00 am with robot competitions being held from 9:30 am through 3:00 pm. This inaugural event for Oswego D308 is one of 33 FIRST LEGO League qualifiers being held in the State of Illinois.

The FIRST LEGO League (FLL) program introduces students in grades 4 through 8 to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society. 7 of the 16 teams that will compete are affiliated with D308 elementary and jr. high schools. 4 teams will advance to 1 of our 2 Illinois State championships.

As part of community outreach, participating teams have been asked to bring canned goods for the Kendall County Food Pantry. Also teams are collecting aluminum tabs from soda and juice cans as part of an Illinois-wide FIRST community outreach program with Ronald McDonald Charities.
