Inmate Solicited Murder of Acquaintance: Cops

The 40-year-old Oswego man's bail was set at 10 percent of $1.5 million.

An inmate at the Kendall County Jail allegedly solicited the murder of an acquaintance of his.

Daniel E. Perkins, 40, of Oswego, was charged with solicitation of murder for hire, solicitation of murder and conspiracy to commit witness intimidation, according to a release from the Kendall County Sheriff's Office.

On July 6, detectives from the sheriff's office and the Oswego Police Department received information regarding an alleged murder for hire incident in the jail.

Detectives from both agencies began a joint investigation and charged Perkins March 8 for the alleged crimes.

“I would like to commend the joint efforts of detectives from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office and Oswego Police Department. Cooperation between law enforcement agencies is vital to ensuring the safety of the citizens of Kendall County,” said Kendall County Sheriff Dwight A. Baird.

Bail for Perkins was set at ten percent of $1.5 million. He is currently in custody at the jail.
