KCSO Employee Found Using Network For Personal Use: Detectives

OSWEGO, IL — A former Kendall County Sheriff's Office employee turned himself in to authorities on a warrant issued after he was found using a secured Kendall County network for personal use, police said.

Detectives at the sheriff's office said they learned of suspicious computer activity involving 49-year-old Darryl Kollins, who worked with Kendall County Technology Services, on Sept. 3. An investigation showed, while he was off duty, he used his privileged access to connect to a secured Kendall County network for personal use, beyond the legal authority granted to him, officials said in a news release Tuesday.

Kollins, of the 12000 block of Fox Road in Yorkville, was immediately placed on unpaid administrative leave and was fired Sept. 24.

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office charged the former employee with two counts of felony official misconduct, two counts of felony computer tampering and two counts of misdemeanor computer tampering.

Kollins turned himself in Monday at the Kendall County Public Safety Center on a warrant that was issued Oct. 25. The man posted his $1,000 bond to apply and was released pending his next court date.
