Kendall County Farmer Wins $1M in Lottery

Tammy Rosenwinkel's habit of buying a lottery ticket once a week finally paid off for her.

BRISTOL, IL — Tammy Rosenwinkel had just finished grocery shopping when she used the Illinois Lottery self-service machine to play Mega Millions.

“Every week I buy one ticket with 10 Quick Picks on it, but I never expected to win a big prize!” the lucky Bristol resident said in a press release from the Illinois Lottery.

Rosenwinkel’s ticket matched the first five numbers – 20 - 25 - 55 - 62 - 74 – (07) – to win $1 million in the Tuesday, Dec. 29 drawing.

Rosenwinkel, 55, has lived in Bristol for 34 years. She is married with three children and two grandchildren. She and her husband plan to invest the windfall in their grain farm.

The winning ticket was purchased at Jewel Osco, located at 3795 Orchard Road in Oswego. Jewel Osco received a bonus of $10,000, or 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.
