Kendall County Food Pantry In Oswego In Need Of Volunteers
Kendall County Community Food Pantry's Oswego satellite location needs people to assist with setup and registration, among other things.
OSWEGO, IL — Kendall County Community Food Pantry's satellite location in Oswego is in need of volunteers to help regularly or when possible, officials said.
The Oswego spot, located at 61 Franklin St., is typically open from 5:30-7 p.m. on the first Friday of each month, with the first food pantry planned for Sept. 2. Before the season gets going, organizers are looking for community members, Oswego School District 308 employees and students in grades 9-12 to help in various ways.
Volunteer positions currently available include:

- Set Up (20 volunteers needed): Unpacking/breaking down boxes, sorting the food and then packing it in bags. Some heavy lifting is required.
- Registrars (4): Greet each food pantry client and register them into the system or check repeat clients. Bilingual preferred but not mandatory.
- Runners (20): The food pantry will initially be run as a drive-up pantry due to COVID-19. Runners will be in charge of loading carts, taking them to vehicles and loading cars.
- Traffic Control (8): Volunteers control the flow of traffic in and out of the pantry.
Those interested can sign up online. Students will receive community service hours for their time, according to a news release.
